My Background: I have over 18 years experience in the design, fabrication and presentation of hands-on science and maths exhibits. I was responsible for the development of Light on Science at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
For the last 9 years I have been taking “Science in a Suitcase” and Maths in a Suitcase into schools all around the country...... “My role with the exhibitions is to work with the activities and the children - to facilitate, to explain, to discuss, to challenge, to demonstrate and, most important, to ensure that everyone has a positive experience and a fun time (even the teachers).”
“Mathematics is not just about arithmetic, sums, calculations and numbers. At the heart of maths are concepts like structure, form, shape, abstraction, reasoning and generalisation. And science is not something done or understood by a precious minority - it is something that we can all do, that we can all appreciate .... We are all able to have views about about the most complex scientific ideas.”
